Location

Bear Cottage self catering accommodation is located in Co.Down, Northern Ireland.  It is 1.2 miles from the village of Leitrim,  4.1 miles to town centre of Castlewellan, 8 miles to Newcastle, 9.5 miles to Dundrum, 15 miles to Downpatrick, 28.5 miles to Belfast and 93.5 miles to Dublin.

The Great Outdoors!

If you love the outdoors, either being active or just admiring the scenery, this is the place to be! Nearby Castlewellan Forest Park offers walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse-riding, orienteering, running and canoeing. Bear Cottage is also situated near to Newcastle and the Mourne Mountains for hikes or beach walks.

​Sight-seeing

There are plenty of historic places of interest nearby including Dowpatrick with its catherdral, and restored steam railway line as well as Dundrum Castle, St Patrick's Church, Castle Ward and Inch Abbey. There's a good car boot sale every Sunday in Dundrum (except in the winter months). 

Eating Out

Dundrum is a short taxi ride away and perfect for eating out at The Mourne Seafood Bar or The Buck's Head.  There are also plenty of restaurants and pubs to choose from in Castlewellan and Newcastle.  Or if you're just stopping for coffee, try The Turnip House in Castlewellan or Paws for Tea in Dundrum which is dog friendly!
